What is the meaning of love (Ahava) אהבה in the bible (torah) ?

Finding the Meaning of love (ahava) in the bible (torah) 

The word love in hebrew is translated as אהבה ( ahava) from its root אָהַב (ahab) and is used in many verses to denote: care, compassion, also something you like, to be willing to do something for someone who has found your favor or you want to win his or her favor.

Favor can also be translated as (Jesed - חסד) in hebrew that means: grace, kindness, love, charity which in kabbalah this word is strongly connected to the act of giving; giving kindness, love, charity.

So in my humble opinion to love means:

As we see above love is the act of be willing to give or do something for someone who gain our favor or we want to win his favor.

Below there are some verse of each of the first five book of the bible which are conected to the word love.

To Permute is to change the order of the position of the letters to find a new meaning in the word (group of letters);

So that we can find some explanation to help us better understand this word.

אָהַב - It means:

• to love
• human love for another
• human love for or to God
• God's love toward man
• to like

אָבָה - It means:

• to be willing, consent
• to want, be willing, consent.
• to press, surround, embrace  (אבי, אבה)
• reed, papyrus. (אֵבֶה )

ה_אב - It means: 

• The_Father
• The_head or founder of a household, group, family, or clan
• The_ancestor

ה_בא - It means:

• (The one who) go in, enter, come, go, come in

וַיֹּ֡אמֶר קַח־נָ֠א אֶת־בִּנְךָ֨ אֶת־יְחִֽידְךָ֤ אֲשֶׁר־אָהַ֙בְתָּ֙ אֶת־יִצְחָ֔ק וְלֶךְ־לְךָ֔ אֶל־אֶ֖רֶץ הַמֹּרִיָּ֑ה וְהַעֲלֵ֤הוּ שָׁם֙ לְעֹלָ֔ה עַ֚ל אַחַ֣ד הֶֽהָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֹמַ֥ר אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

And He said, “Take your son, your favored one, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the heights that I will point out to you.”

Genesis 22:2

וַיֶּאֱהַ֥ב יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־רָחֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אֶֽעֱבָדְךָ֙ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים בְּרָחֵ֥ל בִּתְּךָ֖ הַקְּטַנָּֽה׃

Jacob loved Rachel; so he answered, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”

 Genesis 28:18

וְעֹ֥֤שֶׂה חֶ֖֙סֶד֙ לַאֲלָפִ֑֔ים לְאֹהֲבַ֖י וּלְשֹׁמְרֵ֥י מִצְוֺתָֽי׃ (ס)

but showing kindness to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Exodus 20:6

Note also the word Jesed, here that means kindness.

לֹֽא־תִקֹּ֤ם וְלֹֽא־תִטֹּר֙ אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י עַמֶּ֔ךָ וְאָֽהַבְתָּ֥ לְרֵעֲךָ֖ כָּמ֑וֹךָ אֲנִ֖י יְהוָֽה׃

You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against your countrymen. Love your fellow as yourself: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:18

כִּי֩ מֵֽאַהֲבַ֨ת יְהוָ֜ה אֶתְכֶ֗ם וּמִשָּׁמְר֤וּ אֶת־הַשְּׁבֻעָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נִשְׁבַּע֙ לַאֲבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם הוֹצִ֧יא יְהוָ֛ה אֶתְכֶ֖ם בְּיָ֣ד חֲזָקָ֑ה וַֽיִּפְדְּךָ֙ מִבֵּ֣ית עֲבָדִ֔ים מִיַּ֖ד פַּרְעֹ֥ה מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרָֽיִם׃

but it was because the LORD favored you and kept the oath He made to your fathers that the LORD freed you with a mighty hand and rescued you from the house of bondage, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
